Anyone need sunglasses?

You're more than welcome to mine...because apparently the sun no longer shines in Ohio! It's rained nonstop for months! I guess I could look at the bright side of things and be happy it's not snow. But damn....these grey skies are NOT good for my complexion!

Little Joey just stares longingly out the window with his shoes on both hands...they fit better that way ;)....begging to go out. But I fear I will lose him in the field of grass we used to call a backyard. The rain can't stop long enough to get it mowed!

So who in Ohio pissed Mother Nature off? Typically she only has PMS about 5 months out of the year here....but were well into month 7 and she's still letting us know that she's a bit moody! I kinda think we should get a free pass here or something since she flooded my basement! Dear god woman...take some happy pills and let us see the sun!

Benign neglect

I really don't mean to neglect this poor blog. But you know it's been a long time since you've posted when you can't even remember how to get into it! =P

I was reading through my resolutions before posting this. Ummmmm...let's just say that I'm not doing so hot! I've lost 11 pounds whooptyshit! For the amount I work out and the amount that I DON'T eat...I should be down a whole lot more! Maybe I'm just getting too damn old!

I'm no longer going to try and give up soda! I love it too much and would shrivel up and die without it!

After living with the kids in our bedroom for 6 weeks...suffice to say that I've had PLENTY of time with each of them. Should be good to go on that for another year ;)

Matt~ STILL haven't gone out with just him since September. Need to work on that!!

Can't remember the rest of them so we'll just pretend that I've done them all and we'll forget about them. Okay?

A moment in time...

This morning I had one of those moments that made me realize just how fast time is slipping by....

Joey woke up around 6am. I quickly rushed into get him as I didn't want him waking Drew up....I NEED Drew to sleep! ;) As I reached for him he immediately tried to nurse. I haven't nursed him in over a month....I was finally able to wean him when Jess kept him for a few days when the house flooded. I thought by now he would stop trying...but when he's half awake I think he just does it out of habit. For the past year he would wake up and nurse right away. He started to get a little fussy with me not letting him so I laid down in bed with him to just hold him. He cuddled up right with me like a newborn baby. He would open his beautiful blue eyes every few minutes to make sure I was still there, then he would snuggle in a little more. For over an hour we laid like that! He wasn't asleep at all yet was so calm and willing to be held. At this stage he's moving everywhere...so to get a whole hour to cuddle my baby was pure bless! I think he would've loved another hour like that...but alas I had to get up and get ready for the day.

As my baby days are coming to an end I'm trying to savor up every single moment like this one! When I began nursing him I had NO intention of going to 13 months! That seemed like such a ridiculously long time to me! And there were days that I thought I wouldn't make it til the next day...let alone over a year! For the month before I weaned him, he was biting me constantly ( OH.MY.HELL!) and I was just done! But this morning was the first time that I sat there and realized how quickly that special time with him flew by. In a few weeks he probably won't even remember nursing anymore. But I will always remember that closeness with him. :)

And being that I'm THE shittiest blogger ever....I haven't even updated since the flood! The house is back in order after a full month of all of us living in 1 room! That was sooo much fun < insert major sarcasm here! > And now that the house is done we're going to leave in a few days to go spend a week together in 1 hotel room! haha Daytona Beach and Disney World on the itenerary....like we go anywhere else anymore! ;)

Anyone got an ark?

So my laundry room that I've always LOVED having on the 2nd floor is apparently not such a great design. See...when the washer walks a little and hoses snap, the water tends to flood your house. Yep...almost the entire house has sustained massive damage! Ceilings caved in, walls blown out and carpet beyond soaked. Not to mention some furniture and god only knows what else yet! All 3 floors sustained damage!

Currently we have crews in the house knocking down ceilings and walls to dry the house out. So obviously it's going to get worse before it gets better! The insurance adjuster isn't even coming out til Monday because he needs to wait to see what the damage is going to be. I can tell him....the whole damn house is a wreck. Well minus the master bedroom and the kitchen....ya know, the 2 rooms that I would've LOVED to redo! Keep in mind we just redid this ENTIRE house less than 4 years ago!

So now all 6 of us are sleeping in my bedroom. Fortunately it's a large room so we were able to put the kids mattresses on the floor and Joey is in a pac n play. I've set up little areas for each of the kids to put their clothes. We look like freakin nomads!! My inlaws offered for us to sleep at their house but it's just too hard to get the kids back and forth to school since they're on 3 different schedules.

They're telling us about 4-6 weeks before the house is back to normal. Lovely!

Happy 16th Birthday!

Wow! She's 16 years old already! She's almost as tall as me...I realize that's not much of an accomplishment but still ;) She's not a little girl anymore. She's really turning into a wonderful woman who is wise beyond her years! I know people always brag on their kids and say how perfect they are....but I kid you not when I say this kid is damn near perfect!! I honestly couldn't ask for a better teenager! She's very responsible! I never have to ask her if she has her homework done, has she studied for her yest, has she practiced her clarinet. She takes care of everything herself. She's an extremely self sufficient independent kid! She continues to carry a 4.0 despite taking the most difficult classes available. She could take the easy route to that 4.0 but Hannah likes a challenge! She's definitely a favorite among her teachers and they always tell us how lucky we are to have a kid like her...that most teenagers aren't anything like her! Believe me...we know that she's not the typical teenager! That awful mouthy lazy attitude that most teens have...we just don't get that from her. Sure...a little sass now and then...but she is MY daughter ya know ;) I honestly can't remember the last time I've had to discipline her....she just doesn't do anything wrong! I would love to say that it's a result of great parenting on our part....but I really think we just lucked out and were blessed with a really great kid! :)

Although I really miss the sweet little girl that used to stand on the fireplace and sing us a concert every night....I look forward to seeing what she's going to accomplish!

She's spending her actual birthday doing exactly what she loves to do! She had a bunch of girls spend the night last night. Then she has a performance of the "Beauty and the Beast" musical that she's playing in this afternoon. Then tonight she'll have Alex over to hang out for a few hours. Her big Sweet 16 party is in 2 weeks. Obviously we're not the focal point of her life anymore but that's okay. She surrounds herself by really good kids...and since they all usually hang out over here, I still get to enjoy her being around :)

Hit a new milestone today!

Joey finally did what Drew has been waiting the past year for....he learned how to pick his nose AND eat his boogers! Bet you thought this post was about finally walking ;) Drew doesn't care about that. He's just thoroughly enjoys Joey becoming a gross little boy like him!

Happy Birthday Grandma!

If Grandma was still here...she would've been 107 this year. It's completely selfish of me to still want her here....after all she did live to be 102! But damn....I miss that sassy lady :)

Aw always...Marion's and MGD ( okay only Chris drank that!) we're had in her honor. Now I'm on the hunt to find the birthday cake that Grandma always had for us....a frozen Pepperidge Farm cake that had about 5 years of freezer burn! lol I don't know if they even make them anymore but I'm going to try and find one. And when I do I'm sure I'll sit and eat the whole thing even though it tastes gross! Grandma was NOT one to pass up sweets...so I feel the need to honor her by doing the same ;)
