Anyone got an ark?

So my laundry room that I've always LOVED having on the 2nd floor is apparently not such a great design. See...when the washer walks a little and hoses snap, the water tends to flood your house. Yep...almost the entire house has sustained massive damage! Ceilings caved in, walls blown out and carpet beyond soaked. Not to mention some furniture and god only knows what else yet! All 3 floors sustained damage!

Currently we have crews in the house knocking down ceilings and walls to dry the house out. So obviously it's going to get worse before it gets better! The insurance adjuster isn't even coming out til Monday because he needs to wait to see what the damage is going to be. I can tell him....the whole damn house is a wreck. Well minus the master bedroom and the kitchen....ya know, the 2 rooms that I would've LOVED to redo! Keep in mind we just redid this ENTIRE house less than 4 years ago!

So now all 6 of us are sleeping in my bedroom. Fortunately it's a large room so we were able to put the kids mattresses on the floor and Joey is in a pac n play. I've set up little areas for each of the kids to put their clothes. We look like freakin nomads!! My inlaws offered for us to sleep at their house but it's just too hard to get the kids back and forth to school since they're on 3 different schedules.

They're telling us about 4-6 weeks before the house is back to normal. Lovely!

Happy 16th Birthday!

Wow! She's 16 years old already! She's almost as tall as me...I realize that's not much of an accomplishment but still ;) She's not a little girl anymore. She's really turning into a wonderful woman who is wise beyond her years! I know people always brag on their kids and say how perfect they are....but I kid you not when I say this kid is damn near perfect!! I honestly couldn't ask for a better teenager! She's very responsible! I never have to ask her if she has her homework done, has she studied for her yest, has she practiced her clarinet. She takes care of everything herself. She's an extremely self sufficient independent kid! She continues to carry a 4.0 despite taking the most difficult classes available. She could take the easy route to that 4.0 but Hannah likes a challenge! She's definitely a favorite among her teachers and they always tell us how lucky we are to have a kid like her...that most teenagers aren't anything like her! Believe me...we know that she's not the typical teenager! That awful mouthy lazy attitude that most teens have...we just don't get that from her. Sure...a little sass now and then...but she is MY daughter ya know ;) I honestly can't remember the last time I've had to discipline her....she just doesn't do anything wrong! I would love to say that it's a result of great parenting on our part....but I really think we just lucked out and were blessed with a really great kid! :)

Although I really miss the sweet little girl that used to stand on the fireplace and sing us a concert every night....I look forward to seeing what she's going to accomplish!

She's spending her actual birthday doing exactly what she loves to do! She had a bunch of girls spend the night last night. Then she has a performance of the "Beauty and the Beast" musical that she's playing in this afternoon. Then tonight she'll have Alex over to hang out for a few hours. Her big Sweet 16 party is in 2 weeks. Obviously we're not the focal point of her life anymore but that's okay. She surrounds herself by really good kids...and since they all usually hang out over here, I still get to enjoy her being around :)

Hit a new milestone today!

Joey finally did what Drew has been waiting the past year for....he learned how to pick his nose AND eat his boogers! Bet you thought this post was about finally walking ;) Drew doesn't care about that. He's just thoroughly enjoys Joey becoming a gross little boy like him!

Happy Birthday Grandma!

If Grandma was still here...she would've been 107 this year. It's completely selfish of me to still want her here....after all she did live to be 102! But damn....I miss that sassy lady :)

Aw always...Marion's and MGD ( okay only Chris drank that!) we're had in her honor. Now I'm on the hunt to find the birthday cake that Grandma always had for us....a frozen Pepperidge Farm cake that had about 5 years of freezer burn! lol I don't know if they even make them anymore but I'm going to try and find one. And when I do I'm sure I'll sit and eat the whole thing even though it tastes gross! Grandma was NOT one to pass up sweets...so I feel the need to honor her by doing the same ;)
