Happy New Year!!

Here we are in 2009! I've been thinking long and hard about my New Year's resolutions for this year. Although I'm pretty happy with the way things are.... there is always room for improvement. ;)

Family

Matt~ I want to try and get some time with just him once a month. Whether it be dinner, a movie or whatever.... we get so caught up in all the daily things with the kids, etc. that we don't always take time for just the 2 of us.

Hannah~ I want to be more understanding when the teenage hormones hit from time to time and the tears start to flow. I'm sooo not a crier so this one is tough for me. =P I also want to take more time to have those mother/daughter chats she looks forward to. She loves having my undivided attention even if it's only for an hour. I'm starting to feel the reality of the fact that she has a little over 4 years before she goes to college and I don't want to miss these opportunities to have these moments with her!

Brooke~ I want to allow Brooke more freedom to express her creativity. I tend to mask it from time to time in my quest to have a clean house. ;) Brooke is VERY messy and tends to go from room to room exploring her artistic side. =P I'm hoping that letting her redo her room however she wants will help with that... and giving her more space to do projects and such. I also want to make sure that she gets some individual attention from time to time as well. Her favorite thing is to sit and play cards with me or do some scrapbooking together.

Drew~ My little man is growing up much too quickly! I want to enjoy the last bit of babyhood he has left. Although he's becoming more independent everyday... he still fully needs me... but I know that isn't going to last for much longer. Since he's home with me ALL day everyday he gets plenty of individual attention. But I would like to be more patient with all the boyish things he does... you know like watering silk flowers and coloring on the ceiling! =P I know years from now I'll laugh at all these little things...and then wish upon him a child just. like. him!!

House

This may seem odd to many as most people strive to have a cleaner house. In my quest to have the perfect house I tend to spend waay too much time cleaning it! Pointless when you consider it's just going to get messed up again 5 minutes later. =P So I'm going to try and just enjoy my house as it is a bit more and not worry about the crumbs under the table, the finger prints on the walls, the dishes on the sink... okay I'm having a bit of anxiety just typing that. haha But I'll try... I really will!

Career

Um yea... don't really have one... so this column will stay a bit empty. =P

Travels

We took some great trips last year and we're really looking forward to doing the same this year! I know many people think the vacations we take are such a waste of money... but we enjoy every minute of them! So far we're headed to Vegas in March, Disney for 2 weeks in July and Disney at Christmas. I'm sure we'll throw in another little trip or 2 in that bunch.

Me

There's tons of improvements in this area! lol

Like everyone else.. I want to get in better shape! I do "okay" with working out but now that I'm getting old I need to step it up a bit!

I also want to set aside more time to scrap! I haven't pulled my stuff out in months and am really getting behind. My goal is to have my Disney album from last year done before we go this year!

Hope everyone has a great 2009!

Sounds like you have some great goals set for yourself. I agree trying to give the kids individual time is hard when you are outnumbered.

Good luck on your 2009 goals. I hope it is a great year for you and your family.
